Smart Streetlighting saves Brent £850,000 and cuts carbon emissions by 62%

The solution
As a local supplier based in Hertfordshire – just 25 miles from the LB of Brent - we share a passion for safer, cleaner and greener lighting in our neighbourhoods.
We were delighted to win the tender to relight the entire borough, supplying over 21,000 Kirium Pro's with Urban Control CMS, which we delivered over a 10-month period.
Kirium Pro offers Brent Council exceptional lighting quality with excellent efficiency (up to 174lm/W), directing light where it is needed and reducing the need to over-light. It also provides an almost immediate payback through significant reduction in both energy consumption and carbon.
Using Kirium Pro lanterns with our sister product Urban Control is a smart solution. Urban Control aims to help city asset owners and managers harness the power of SMART-city technology, by equipping them with the knowledge and tools to build energy and money-saving solutions, based around their needs. The London Borough of Brent publishes a 48-hour emergency response time to replace faulty lamps, with their CMS they will be able to monitor and control their lanterns remotely, so they can detect errors before they are even reported, allowing them to be proactive rather than reactive. The results will bring energy, carbon and money savings for the borough and ultimately the tax payer.
The combination of the new Kirium Pro installation with the CMS will save £850,000 every year in energy costs and have helped to make Brent greener with a huge 62% reduction in carbon emissions.
